Itinerary

8:30 AM: Depart from Bus parking towards Yangtse.

9 AM: Gom Kora Temple. A large boulder sits in the garden of Gom Kora Temple and it is said that if anyone can climb below the rock and emerge from its summit, he will be forgiven of his sins.

9:45 AM: Duksum town. Duksum is a small weaver’s town where you can find a fair amount of weavers producing some very nice work.

10 AM: Choeten Kora Stupa. Every year in spring, Chorten Kora is the sight of one of the most famous festivals in Bhutan. Although quite remote the Chorten Kora Tshechu attracts people from all parts of the country

10:30 AM: Drive back towards Trashigang

11:45 AM: Visit to Trashigang Dzong.

Located on a hilltop overlooking the Drangmechu River, the dzong was built by the third Druk Desi (Secular head of the country) Migyur Tenpa as prophesied by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1659. It is also referred to as the fortress of the Auspicious Mound. The dzong was built to spread the Drukpa rule over the eight regions of the east (Sharchog Khorlo Tsib Gyed). The dzong houses the statue of Drubthob Thangtong Gyalpo sculptured by himself and many different temples, including a goenkhang. The fortress also consists of the monastic body of Trashigang district and the district administration.
